Rachel Maddow: The David Vitter Problem

If you haven’t noticed, there has been a rather surprising push within the Democratic party for Rep. Anthony Weiner to resign in the wake of his sex scandal. Less surprisingly, the GOP is also calling for him to step down. The chairman of the Republican Party, Reince Priebus, has even gone on Fox News to declare that Weiner is a “creep” and should resign immediately. IMMEDIATELY!

But how does the GOP and Prince Riebus Reince Priebus feel about the continued service of Senator David Vitter, a Republican who was caught having participated in a prominent D.C. prostitution ring (while married and pushing conservative family values on America)? Well, they’ve remained silent on the matter. Even Fox News host Greta Van Susteren pointed out Priebus’ hypocrisy in calling for Weiner to resign but not Vitter.

Last night Rachel Maddow devoted eighteen minutes to discussing what she calls “The David Vitter Problem” — the GOP’s urgent call for Weiner (Democrat) to step down from congress, while failing to call for Vitter (Republican) to resign following his own sex scandal. Rachel really hit the nail on the head with this one. Click below below to check out Rachel Maddow’s segment on the David Vitter Problem, which includes a conversation with…wait for it…Larry Flynt. SCORE.
